I was just a country girl from the farm,
Living simply,
Pure and innocent.
I woke to the sound of the distant rooster crowing,
The whisper of the light morning wind,
Provided the flow of a peaceful day to come.
I watched the golden grains dancing in the sun,
The harvest from the earth awaited,
For a hard earned fruitful season.
I looked out to the waves of the nearby ocean,
The movement took me to the place beyond the horizon,
For the moment, I imagined the world beyond the blue sky.
I dreamed of a field of colorful spring flowers,
The sweet scents of the blossoms filled my bosom,
The imagining world of rainbow filled with joy came alive.
I then heard the crushing sound of despair,
From the people living in the world that I fancied myself in,
The reality set in.
I endured the thoughts of a simple life of the farm girl no more,
The envisioned complex world brought burden yet layers of fulfillment,
For the wisdom of humanity arose from these uneventful experiences.
I would like to be able to say life is worthy of living at the end,
When the simplicity of a farm girl’s life,
Provided the foundation of strength to live freely.
